Maja asked, "Why are you still here this late? Isn’t Leo already home? Why isn't he helping you?"

If he were here, she wouldn't be bullied by some middle-aged man. Susan's cheeks turned a light shade of pink, and she quickly grabbed Maja's hand.

"Maja, come home with me. Your room is still there. Thanks for the last time you even called Leo back.”

She didn't address Maja's question.

Maja sighed, seeing her struggling with a pile of fruits all by herself.

She immediately started helping her push from behind.

"Did Leo and his wife make up after he got home?"

"No, they had a big fight. But it's Leo's fault. I told him to write an apology letter. His wife should forgive him soon."

Maja didn't say anything. She saw Ian on the steps as they passed Riverside Haven with the cart.

Ian was out of his suit, wearing just a white shirt, talking to Jeff.

They hadn't been there long and were about to attend a leadership gathering.

It was now eight o'clock in the evening, and people were waiting.

As Maja helped Susan push the cart, she met Ian's eyes.

He slightly raised his eyebrows, his gaze falling on the fruits in the cart.

There were oranges, grapes, and bananas, all neatly arranged.

Maja thought she was seeing things. How could she see Ian in Crystalbrook Valley?

She straightened up and saw him under the lights of Riverside Haven; all his sharp features seemed to melt in the soft moonlight.

He didn't have the cold seriousness he had at work; his shirt sleeves were rolled up a bit; it seemed tonight's gathering didn't require much formality, so he looked relaxed.

"Mr. Raymond?"

She called out, a bit dazed.

Ian stood on the steps, Maja a few degrees below, and after a moment of thought, she said, "Mr. Raymond, would you like an orange?"
