Down the hall, Maja was already fast asleep, with fatigue clearly etched on her face.

When she woke up, it was already two in the afternoon. She quickly washed her face and brushed her teeth, preparing to rush to the hospital. As she passed by Ian's room, she saw that he was just opening his door.

She immediately recalled the conversation she overheard in the elevator earlier in the morning. He was about to pick up his girlfriend.

Wasn't she supposed to take the 4 PM flight? Mr. Raymond left at 2 PM. When it came to the woman he was fond of, Ian was no different from any other man. He was just as anxious.

"Mr. Raymond."

Having had enough sleep, her mind was clear now. Ian didn't respond. He was unsure why she came to this hotel, even booking a room on the same floor.

If she didn't have any ulterior motives, no one would believe it. But if she did have other plans, she always acted decently and didn't deliberately dress provocatively to knock on his door like the other woman.

They both got into the elevator, and Maja pressed for the first floor. Once the elevator doors closed, she spoke up leisurely.

"Mr. Raymond, if we don't get the cherry wood flooring in the end, I'll substitute it with another material. The project has already started, and I'll keep a close eye on it. If you have any other ideas, feel free to communicate with me at any time."

She discussed work matters seriously. Maja initially wanted to continue talking, but her phone rang just then. It was Samuel. She paused to answer the call.

"Penny, I did you such a big favor, and you aren't even going to treat me to a meal? Is that fair?"

Maja indeed owed Samuel a favor for the matter concerning Leo. But thinking about Leo's parents' choice, she felt a bit bitter.

"I should treat you to a meal, Mr. Brown, but could we wait until next week? I'll reach out to you then."

Samuel chuckled on the other end, his tone suggestive, "Sure, Penny, but a meal next week won't be the same as one right now."

Maja pretended not to catch the hint and calmly said, "Mr. Brown, let's leave it at that."

She sighed in relief after hanging up. By then, she had walked out of the hotel with Ian. Maja intended to say goodbye and head to her car, but Ian spoke up.
