There was a small lump on the bed, and all you could see was the soft hair poking out.

The bedside lamp was on, casting a warm glow on the bed.

Ian didn't just barge in, and knocked twice on the door. When here was no response from inside, he went in.

"Penny?"

The layout of the room was the same as his, just with different decor. He flipped on the lights in the room, and saw Maja’s forehead crease, probably due to the sudden brightness.

Ian wanted to touch her forehead, but before his hand could reach her, Maja opened her eyes. Her face was still pale, but she seemed in better spirits. When she saw the man by the bedside, surprise flashed through her eyes.

"Mr. Raymond?"

Ian retracted his hand, calmly placing it at the side of his dress pants.

"Are you sick?"

Maja had a fever the night at Crystalbrook Valley. Today her period pains were quite severe. She had taken three pills at noon without considering that it would upset her stomach. When she woke up, all she felt was unbearable pain in her stomach, as if all her organs were being twisted together.

She quickly sat up, her hand on her stomach, her face even paler. She tried to get out of bed, but her legs gave out, and she fell.

Ian reached out and caught her. But she had taken a bath before bed and was wearing a strappy nightgown. His fingertips inevitably touched her bare skin. Upon closer look, her exposed skin was glossy and smooth to the touch.

Ian was wearing a thin shirt, specifically changed into before coming over. His figure was lean and straight. As he leaned slightly to catch her, a sturdy wristbone was revealed.

After being helped up by him, Maja breathed a sigh of relief, quickly straightening up. When she realized she was still holding his hand, she immediately took a step back.

Just then, it occurred to her. Why was Ian in her bedroom?

"The front desk came knocking, there was no answer. So I called you and asked for a spare room key."

His tone was steady, pointing towards the outside.

"You should eat something."
