Both of them stayed silent. Maja stayed frozen in the same position and tried hard to keep her cool.

Ian's slender fingers intertwined as he scrubbed them clean of foam. After that, he picked up a paper towel from the side and wiped his fingertips dry.

Even though the whole process didn't take more than a minute, Maja felt like it lasted a century.

Ian tossed the used paper towel into a nearby trash can and chuckled softly at the sight of her forced calmness.

"Am I really that scary?"

She was normally quick-witted but was now scared and speechless.

Maja had no choice but to look up at him.

"You're my boss; of course I'm scared of you."

"Did you have a good time dining with your husband?"

Maja quickly responded, "Coco had an incident this evening; Nathan was busy too, so I didn't go."

"I know, you're worried Ms. Shepard would get jealous. Don't worry, I'll keep it a secret."

Ian stood in front of her, looking down at her relaxed demeanor as his eyes darkened.

He scanned her slowly, his voice icy.
