Carol had left the building.

Maja followed two lawyers, but her mind was preoccupied with Neil's condition.

He's still out cold, without telling when he'll come around.

They ended up in a nearby park, a quiet spot perfect for discussing matters.

Just as she sat down, she spotted Connie Raymond sketching in the distance.

Connie apparently noticed her, too, and strode over.

"Penny! Long time no see!"

Maja nodded slightly and smiled, "Still sketching, aren't you?"

Connie heaved a sigh.

"Yep, I was planning to catch up with Ian, but he's been swamped lately and doesn't even have time to chat."

Connie glanced at the two suit-and-tie guys next to Maja, furrowing her brows. Hadn't she seen them somewhere before?

"Penny, you look like you've got something on your plate. I'll let you get to it. I still have some sketching to do. If you're free, could you help me out? I'll treat you to a meal as a thank you, deal?"

Without hesitation, Maja nodded in agreement.

Connie resumed sketching a hundred meters away from Maja, neither disturbing the other.

The two lawyers exchanged glances, their foreheads creased. They hadn't expected a member of the Raymond family to be here.

Maja sat on the bench, and while facing the two men, she asked, "Did my dad consult with you guys about something?"

"Ms. Pennyfeather, could we continue our discussion at a café?"

Maja was a bit puzzled. The park was near the hospital. She could return to the hospital sooner if they wrapped up their talk here. Why the need for a café?

A sense of unease crept up on her, and she stood up abruptly, her palms breaking out in cold sweat.

Could it be that these two weren't lawyers at all?

Meanwhile, Connie was sketching away when she suddenly paused. It hit her. She had seen these two guys before. They seemed to be bodyguards from the Shepard family.

She looked over at Maja and saw her swiftly walking towards her.

The two men remained where they were, with their eyes fixed on them.

Connie's driver was not far off, ready to report any incidents to the Raymond family.

They didn't give chase; they merely grabbed their briefcases and took off.

Maja came up to Connie with her legs still a bit shaky.
