Ian's face was as cool as a cucumber, as if his wife's family fortune hadn't run into any trouble.

Jeff could only sigh. It seemed that Mr. Raymond really wasn't fond of his wife.

"Mr. Raymond, Holden has called twice, asking if you've met with Ms. Shepard."

Holden was on high alert when it came to Carlene.

Penny might be competent, but I think she's still stuck in traditional views of marriage. She might see divorce as a failure or think a family isn't complete without a man. Feminism has only become popular in recent years. Penny might be independent at work but not in her relationships."

Ian was a very cool-headed person. He hadn't looked into Maja's family situation because he wasn't sure if his curiosity about her stemmed from physical pleasure or something else.

But what else could it be? He didn't know her and didn't plan on getting to know her. He was just attracted to her allure.
