Ian didn't pick up the phone, which was pretty much a public slap in the face, but she didn't give a hoot.

She made her way to the Raymond Corporation.

It was already seven in the evening, but the lights at the Raymond Corporation were still blazing.

When she got to the top floor, Jeff was still there, seemingly surprised to see her show up that late.

Maja gave him a wry smile, "I'm here for Mr. Raymond."

He replied, "The boss has an international meeting tonight. He just went into the conference room, probably for two hours."

She was prepared to wait, so she took a seat on the side.

But as she waited, she grew impatient. She never thought she'd stoop so low as to make such a deal with someone.

Her mom had always instilled in her the importance of hard work and being self-reliance.

Lillian's favorite lesson was that women must be financially, mentally, and morally independent.

As a kid, Maja didn't get it, but as she grew older, she began to appreciate Lillian's wisdom.

She wasn't an average Jane from places like Crystalbrook Valley. Her knowledge and wisdom set her apart from other women.

She found herself reminiscing about the past, time seemed to fly by.

When the office door swung open, she stood up, and there was Ian, looking all high and mighty.

He had taken off his suit, which was casually draped over his arm, with only a watch as an accessory. He looked like a dignified millionaire.

He walked over to his desk, and his eyes landed on her across the marble table.

He took off his watch, tossed it aside, his gaze icy, lips blood-red. Under the overhead light, his skin looked as smooth as cold porcelain.

No matter when she looked at his face, she'd be blown away by his good looks.

"Mr. Raymond."

She called out as she stood up.

He seemed to know why she was there.

"Penny, showing up at this hour, the price tag isn't the same, you know."

He was getting back at her, for rejecting him earlier in the private room.

This was probably the first time Ian had ever been given the cold shoulder by a woman, so he walked up to her, lifted her chin, his eyes filled with mockery.
