Her voice was filled with joy.

Ian stayed silent for a while and put down his coffee cup, "Carlene, I'm not going to the auction."

He was beating around the bush, but his point was clear. He didn't need her company.

Carlene's face turned pale instantly. She knew that arguing wouldn't help, so she just comforted herself.

"I get it. Is it about the overseas project that needs your personal attention?"

Ian nodded and turned on his laptop next to him.

He sent Maja a message.

【Let's head overseas together tomorrow.】

When Maja received the message, she was at the hospital visiting Nathan. He was insistent on leaving the hospital, so she was handling his discharge and preparing to take him home.

"Don't you think you should stay in the hospital a bit longer?"

The injury Nathan had was accidental and she felt somewhat guilty.

"Nah, Penny. It's just a flesh wound. I just got promoted. I lost Mr. Raymond's cufflinks last time at work, and Mr. Judson wasn't too happy about it. So, I got to step up my game."

His face was badly swollen, but he still gave her the money back.

Nathan hesitated a bit. He was broke and fond of money. This money would improve his life and help him get a girlfriend.

Maja drove Nathan home.

Maja saw a little girl waiting for Nathan at his doorstep. The girl was on crutches, probably his little sister.

He picked her up to comfort her.

He wanted her to go abroad with him!

She bit her lip nervously and then replied to him.

She still owed him eight services, but that did not include going abroad with him.

Seeing the message, Ian's face darkened, and the atmosphere around him became frosty.

Carlene was still waiting in front of him, feeling his gaze becoming sharp.
