Carol was a bit bummed out.

"Scared of what? The ones should be scared of are that pair of cheating dogs!"

Maja led Carol into the bar, made sure Ian didn't see them, and then began to whisper.

"Hey, I'm also seeing someone behind his back. It's not like we owe each other anything."

Carol burst into laughter and then hugged Maja.

"Right, how could I have forgotten you've been up to no good too? Come on. I've booked a private room. I'll show you what the high life really is tonight."

The last time Carol said this, she booked the entire amusement park for Maja's birthday.

Maja's childhood was indeed tough. Things changed when Neil's career took off, but Lillian died.

Neil started to be very busy, spending most of his time introducing Maja to clients or taking her to his newly established office.

Back then, a group of middle-aged men would smoke and discuss the future, while she, a clueless kid, just knew she had to behave herself and not cause any trouble.

Later, she started school and mostly chose boarding schools to lessen the burden on Neil.

Then, Neil married Cristina, and Maja's relationship with her father became increasingly distant.

Neil used to take her to amusement parks. It was super crowded, and she would sit on Neil's shoulders and play all day.

But she didn't know that Lillian was already very sick then. She was just holding on to fulfil her dream of going to an amusement park.

Upon learning the truth, Maja felt guilty and barely wanted to go to amusement parks anymore. Up till now, she's only been twice.

Once with her family and another with Carol, two grown-ups playing games all day.

"Better save your energy. If you put this much effort into men, you might've changed boyfriends hundreds of times already."

Maja was teasing Carol as they walked.

Carol chuckled, "I'm not looking for a guy, nor am I head over heels for Felix. But I won't disappoint you tonight."

When they arrived at the private room, she opened the door.

Inside sat a very handsome male star, the one Carol mentioned last time.

Maja paused, immediately understanding Carol's intentions. She felt her scalp tingle and turned to leave.

Carol stopped her.

"What are you doing? At least chat with him for a bit," she whispered into Maja's ear.

"I've checked him out for you, six-pack abs and clean as a whistle. If you like him, you can take him home tonight."

With that, Carol pushed Maja into the room, stuffing a fancy box into her hand, presumably a gift.

"Carol!"
