The fire in the room had been put out, and Maja was curled up in a corner, her bonds untied and the gag removed from her mouth.

Just moments ago, a lick of flame threatened to engulf her, but she was yanked away just in time.

When the bag over her head was taken off, she saw the cleaner, who was supposed to be at the office.

"Ms. Pennyfeather, are you okay?"

The cleaner seemed genuinely concerned, her face full of worry.

Maja thought the woman seemed familiar, but before she could think further, Neil's voice rang out, and the woman bolted away in terror.

Neil saw Maja huddled in the corner. She was unharmed, but her clothes were dirty and her hair was filled with dust.

The acrid smell of burnt wood filled the room.

Neil tasted blood in his mouth and quickly began barking orders to the people around him.

"Help her up."

Two bodyguards were about to step forward, but Maja had already gotten up on her own.

She could tell that Neil was on his last legs.

"Dad."

Before she could even finish her sentence, Neil coughed up a mouthful of blood and collapsed.

He should've fallen when Ian said those words, but he wasn't sure if Maja was safe.

Now that Maja was safe, Neil couldn't hold on any longer.

"Dad!"

Fear flashed through Maja's eyes as she rushed to his side.

Neil's eyes were filled with confusion as he tightly gripped her hand.

"Divorce, don't suffer." he trembled.

Maja's face was still smeared with dust as she quickly turned to the bodyguards.

"Quick! Get him to the hospital!"

The bodyguards immediately came over and helped Neil into the car.

But Neil's hand was still tightly holding onto Maja's, not letting go.

Tears welled up in Maja's eyes as she followed them into the car.

At the hospital, the doctors rushed Neil into the resuscitation room.
