When Carol set her eyes on Ian, they just about popped out of her head. Then, spotting Carlene next to him, her smile dropped a notch.

Carlene was no stranger to Carol; after all, the Millers, running a diamond business, were legit blue blood.

"Ms. Miller."

Carlene greeted her politely. Carol played deaf and turned her attention to Ian.

Ian, however, didn't spare Carol a glance and walked past her.

A sense of relief washed over Carlene. She nodded at Carol, then hurried to catch up with Ian.

Carol snapped a picture of their retreating figures. The flash was still on, and at the moment she pressed the shutter, the whole space seemed to light up.

Ian stopped in his tracks, turning to look at Carol, his eyes as cold as an iceberg.

"Delete that."

Carol's heart pounded. She straightened her neck and said, "No way, I'm sending this to Maja, your wife."

At the mention of his wife's name, Ian's brow furrowed, and he finally looked Carol in the eye.

"Do you know Maja?"

"Of course, we're good friends."

Ian let out a chuckle. "Seems like Ms. Miller didn't teach you well."

Carol's face stiffened. "What do you mean?"

Carlene chimed in, "What Ian means is that being friends with someone like her is beneath you."

Carol was instantly pissed off.

These two were thick as thieves!

Ian didn't give her another look and walked away.

Carlene deliberately lagged behind, turning to Carol.

"Ian and I came to the hospital this late because I needed a check-up."

She intentionally caressed her stomach.

"Still, I hope you won't tell your friend about this. I'm not sure what to do yet."

With Carlene's vague words, touching her belly, and coming to the hospital late at night with Ian, Carol quickly caught on.

She stared disbelievingly at Carlene's stomach.

Was Carlene pregnant?

Carlene gave a small smirk, not giving Carol a chance to ask, and walked away.

Carol stood there, fuming. After some thought, she decided to call Maja right away.
