Ian's behaviour reminds me of those schoolboy antics where he'd do annoying things on purpose just to get the attention of the girl he liked. Even if he's met with a glare, at least he's got her attention.

Is his idea of romance still stuck at that kindergarten level?

As expected, Maja's face darkened.

Every time he casually said a few words, it always stirred up her anger, so her words tended to be a bit sharp.

"Mr. Raymond, no matter how useless my husband might be, he's still better than you. At least he doesn't try to possess me."

Ian's face immediately changes, and Tyler, who's nearby, sees the fight brewing and quickly steps in to mediate.

"Ian, Penny, both of you need to cool it. There's a birthday party going on. Let's not ruin the vibe."

Speaking of which, tomorrow's Ian's birthday. He's turning 24.

Tyler couldn't help but glance at Maja. Does she know?

Does he need to remind her?

But looking at the two of them now, even if he did remind her, she wouldn't bring a gift.

Maja calmed down after hearing Tyler's mediation.

Ian didn't say anything, but his hand held her fingers tightly, refusing to let go.

Someone pushed a cake in, the birthday person had already started cutting the cake, and everyone went to get a piece.

Although none of these people were particularly fond of sweets, they still had a few bites out of courtesy.

Ian let go of her hand and went to get a small piece of cake himself.

The birthday person looked surprised to see him come over.

Usually at these events, Ian kept to himself in the corner until it was over.

The others also fell silent for a moment, but Ian didn't notice the change. He placed the piece of cake in front of Maja.

Maja didn't like sweets either, especially cake.

"Mr. Raymond, I'm not eating this."

Ian raised his hand, forked a small piece, and held it up to her mouth.

"Have a taste."

Maja turned her head away. "I don't like sweets."

Ian didn't say anything. He quietly put the fork in his mouth and ate the piece of cake on it.

Maja was a bit surprised when she saw him put down the fork with a disappointed look.

She thought he would force her to eat it, so she sighed in relief.

Soon after, she saw Jeff come in and hand Ian a box of a hangover cure.

Ian opened the packaging, inserted a small straw, and held it to her mouth.

"Have a sip."

Maja frowned a bit, and she did drink a bit too much just now. After all, there was a lot she needed to get off her chest, and her emotions were running high.

She didn't refuse the hangover cure.

Ian looked at her, breathed a sigh of relief, and then said, "See, being with me isn't that bad, is it?"
