He was about to roll out of bed when he heard a knock on his bedroom door. Jeff walked in with a new batch of medications.

"Boss, you can't be hopping around just yet."

Ian seemed to ignore him, his legs already touching the ground, but then Jeff spoke again.

"If you want to win Ms. Penny back, you'll need to be in good shape first. Otherwise, guys like Shawn will have a field day. If he wants to take Ms. Penny overseas for a shoot next time, you won't be able to tag along in your current state."

That sentence hit Ian like a punch in the gut, and he laid back down on his bed.

"Jeff, hand me the meds."

He used to only take his meds when Maja fed them to him, but now he gulped down all his pills in one go and didn't forget to ask.

"Go ask the doc which meds work the fastest."

Jeff bit back a laugh and kept a straight face.

"Boss, these are the most effective pills you can get. In a month, you'll be up and about. You can't take your chest wound lightly, it's been infected twice."
