Neil had a dream about Lillian, his ex-wife and Maja's mom. After waking up, he felt a great sense of guilt.

Maybe it was because Lillian's death anniversary just passed that he dreamt of her. He felt really sorry towards Maja now.

Ian was a great guy, but if his daughter didn't like Ian, it was like forcing her to accept something she didn't like.

Honestly, Maja had never given him a reason to worry from childhood till now. But now, he felt like he was drifting further and further away from her.

A flicker of anger flashed in Cristina's eyes. You know, people tended to go soft when they got older. Neil used to obey her with just a few words of persuasion. But now, with his health in a bad shape and Lillian's death anniversary just passing, he might be overthinking things.

Cristina had never won against Lillian before, and now she definitely won't let Lillian's daughter surpass her.

"Honey, don't overthink it. You've been really good to Maja. The problem is her personality. She’s just not likable. Look at how Selena treats us. If Maja could pull herself together, Selena wouldn't treat us this way."

At the mention of Selena, Neil started coughing violently. What Selena said was indeed too much. However, it was true that Maja married Ian initially for the sake of the three million-dollar investment. Selena looked down on their family and his daughter, that was why she said those things.

"Honey, look at how much Tricia cares about you. If she was in good health, she would have visited you by now. I didn't even dare to tell her you're in the hospital. Glenn just called, saying you need to rest more and he'll handle the company matters."

Neil's face seemed to lighten up. Tricia and Glenn were definitely more sensible than Maja. Maja was too strong-willed, and she never relied on him, which made him feel like he was failing as a father.

"Maja really isn't as sensible as Tricia."

Just as he said this, there were footsteps at the door. Maja had arrived, and heard exactly what he said. Neil instantly felt awkward and his face turned sour.

Maja, however, just lowered her head and put the food she brought on the side table.

"Dad, are you hungry? Eat something first."

Neil wanted to explain, but realized he couldn't find the right words, so he just sighed instead. "Alright."

After a spoonful of porridge, he asked, "When can be discharged?"

Maja had already told the doctor not to inform anyone else about Neil's condition. Since they've decided not to do surgery, they might as well let him spend the year peacefully.

"The doctor recommends you rest in the hospital for half a month."

"Half a month? There are so many things waiting for me at the company. And you know, the company is about to start its second round of financing, and there can't be any negligence."
