Tyrone swung the iron bar with all his might at the windshield. The car was locked tight for reasons unknown, and its internal buttons were rendered useless. Now, they were left with only two options: either saw the door open with a chainsaw to free the trapped soul or smash through the windshield.
But neither of these options was quick to execute. Tyrone couldn't put all his eggs in one basket; he figured they had to try both methods at the same time.
Reuben and the others grabbed every fire extinguisher they could find and started blasting the front of the car, especially where the smoke was billowing out.
Having tinkered with cars for years, Tyrone had his fair share of wrecks in his youth. Just one sniff of the air, and he knew they were in grave danger. It wouldn't be long before the fire extinguishers would prove useless against a leaking gas tank and an engine that was sparking, threatening an explosion at any moment.
The windshield was tough. Despite Tyrone hitting it over and over, it only cracked but wouldn't give in. With a fierce look, he ignored Quintessa, as sweat dripped down his face; yet his movements never paused for a second.
Quintessa watched Tyrone, her lips curving into a slow smile. Somehow, she found solace in this chaos.
She thought about who she'd want to see before dying, and surprisingly, it was Tyrone.
"If I'm to die here today," Quintessa thought, "then perhaps it's just my fate. But knowing that someone cares this much about me in my final moments... well, that's comforting in its own way!"
Tyrone ordered others to start cutting the door with a chainsaw. The whole crew was in a state of panic, with the faint-hearted too scared to come near. A few of the female actors were even crying out of fear.
Suddenly, another person joined the fray. Tyrone turned to see Alexander, who had somehow found a baseball bat and was now fiercely smashing the windshield without a word.
Alexander always had a calm and scholarly demeanor. Such wild behavior was rare from him.
He didn't pay any mind to Tyrone.
Nor did Tyrone to him. It was as if they hadn't seen each other, yet they competed in their efforts.
