“Roxanne, I made countless mistakes because I was a prejudiced and arrogant fool. After the wedding tomorrow, we'll truly be a family. I hope you'll put the past behind us and give me the opportunity to be a good mother-in-law and a good grandmother for the kids.”

Roxanne had not expected Sonya to reflect so deeply on her own actions. “Mom, we need to constantly move on in life. I hope you'll forgive any mistakes I make in the future.” She believed that Sonya had spoken from the bottom of her heart, so she too truly meant what she said.

“All right. You should go get some rest as the preparations for a traditional wedding ceremony begins at three to four o'clock in the morning.”

Roxanne sat on the couch in a daze after hanging up.
