Falling For My "Disabled" Wife novel Chapter 4

Upon hearing Rebecca's words, Jasmine became even more furious. "Of course, you would speak up for the Bourn family. You want this matter over with. After all, the Bourn family initially arranged a marriage with your second son, Jonas, but you fancied that girl from the Dawson family. Look at what happened! You deceived them by replacing your son with someone else! Now, they have also switched their daughters! Letting a cripple marry into the Nicholls family is simply a big joke!"

Sophie couldn't hold back anymore after being repeatedly referred to as a cripple. She said slowly, "Aunt Jasmine, I understand that you are criticizing me for the sake of the Nicholls family's reputation. However, even if you go to the Bourn family on this matter, I'm afraid you won't be justified. After all, it was you who changed the candidate for the marriage alliance first. Moreover, I am indeed the daughter of the Bourn family. Even if I was adopted, I am still Laura's sister. You can't deny this even if you want to."

None of them expected the daughter of the Bourn family to be so assertive and dare to speak to her elders right after arriving.

A glint flashed in Norman's eyes. Sophie seemed to be quite interesting.

Jasmine did not relent. "Adopted? Russell, that sly fox! He went to adopt a paralyzed person to insult us so he would not have to marry his daughter here?"

Sophie laughed. "Sorry to inform you, but the Bourn family has adopted me for ten years. It's just something not well known to the public."

Sophie had been kept in near captivity for those ten years. If it weren't for her marrying into the Nicholls family in Laura's stead today, perhaps no one would ever know of Sophie's existence until her death.

Jasmine was left speechless. Still, she found the sight of Sophie an eyesore. "You're pretty calm, girl. How dare a young girl like you speak up in front of your elders?"

Sophie cast a glance at Norman. "You are right, Aunt Jasmine. There are elders present here. However, aren't you also expressing your opinions? Why not calm down and listen to what Grandpa has to say? You may set a good example for me."

With just a few words, Jasmine's face went dark. How could a paralyzed girl be so sharp-tongued? Sophie even managed to shut Jasmine up.

Everyone present couldn't help but cast a curious glance at Jasmine. They knew about her fiery temper, and it was the first time they had seen someone shut Jasmine up so quickly.

No one noticed that the corners of Roger's mouth curled upward. Sophie... She was a newcomer but she couldn't hide her personality anymore.

Sophie had suppressed herself for a long time. She had been controlled by the Bourn family all along and had been trying to find a way to escape.

Now that Sophie had finally escaped from there, she naturally wouldn't give anyone a chance to bully her. To resist the Bourn family, Sophie couldn't do without the Nicholls family for now. Since she couldn't leave, Sophie had to fight for herself to live more comfortably.

Norman stared deeply at Sophie, his sharp gaze gleaming with authority. After a long silence, he finally asked, "Is what you said true?"

Sophie did not flinch under Norman's sharp glare. "Everything is true. The Bourn family is smart, too. Since they decide to do this, they won't allow you to find faults."

Even if Sophie was adopted, she was still the daughter of the Bourn family. Moreover, the Nicholls family was the one who switched first. Thus, the Nicholls family couldn't kick up a fuss when the Bourn family switched brides after that.

Norman naturally knew that what Sophie said was the truth. His gaze turned to Roger. "Roger, do you agree to this?"
