A peaceful and uneventful night went by. It was as if a demarcation line separated them, as not a single act of intimacy was initiated.
They were deadbeat and had no energy left to engage in nightly exertions.
Skylar's phone received a text message from Kate early in the morning informing her to prepare for the second round of screen tests. The director's team had more or less chosen her as the female lead as long as there wasn't a need to change actresses at the eleventh hour.
Skylar casually tossed her phone onto the side of the pillow, and Tobias placed his hand on it. His eyes were closed as he uttered, “Your mom came looking for you last night. Since you weren't around, she went back. I forgot to tell you about it last night.”
Tobias rarely forgot anything due to his outstanding memory unless he deemed them unimportant.
Skylar sat on the end of the bed and leaned half of her body weight on Tobias' thighs.
“It can't be anything good. She'll keep me on a tight leash once I begin shooting and get paid. What is wrong with her? She treats me like an ATM, so much that I can never save enough money no matter how hard I work. I think it's high time I get my fortune told with all the bad luck I keep attracting.”
She couldn't help convincing Tobias to bring her to Thymion early in the morning.
It was an opportunity to gauge whether her company was on the right track and her compatibility with Tobias.
Tobias was not opposed to the idea. He'd had Skylar's fortune told before, which was revealed to be rather ordinary.
He didn't ask the fortune-teller to delve in-depth as one's destiny was not set in stone and could still be altered. Skylar would overthink and end up in a depressive state if the results of the fortune-telling were unfavorable while she was going through a rough patch in her life.
