Kya stared with a hint of confusion in her eyes as he looked at Charlie. "Daddy? They said, I don't have a dad."

"Who said that?" Charlie asked, frowning.

"The kids all say I don't have a dad." Kya was a bit downcast.

Charlie said gently, "Well, I'll be your dad today, okay?"

Kya grinned. "I’d love that!"

Charlie reminded her, "So remember to call me dad, not Uncle Charlie."

"Got it!"

"Charlie!" Emily called out to him. "What are you trying to do?"

"Do you want Kya to be blamed?" Charlie looked at her calmly.

Emily bit her lip and said, "I don't care; Kya doesn't understand."

"I care!" Charlie declared and walked away with Kya, leaving Emily behind.

As they entered the banquet hall, Linda was frantically looking for Emily. Seeing her, she yelled, "Emily, where have you been? Elliott and the bride will be here any minute."

Charlie walked over with Kya in his arms. Linda took one look at Charlie's handsome face and elegant demeanor and was taken aback. "Who’s this?" She asked Emily.

Before Emily could reply, Kya suddenly hugged Charlie and said, "Daddy, I want some chocolate."
