Heartstrings on Fire novel Chapter 1065

Agnes's brow furrowed.

Ryder's words were lukewarm at best, but they seeded a kind of despair in Agnes's heart.

She had been discovered by Ryder.

Yet, he seemed utterly indifferent.

He placed a bowl of chicken noodle soup in front of Agnes. "Try the chicken noodle soup I made."

Chicken noodle soup was Agnes's favorite, and Ryder knew it.

So, it was the dish Ryder was most proud of.

The broth, simmered to perfection, was fragrant and mouthwatering.

But Agnes had no appetite at all.

She knew too well that she wouldn't find any information on Ryder's computer anymore.

Agnes shut the laptop. "I'm not hungry, you eat."

"Just have a little," Ryder insisted, somewhat mysteriously.

Agnes didn't want his charity, seeing it as a feeble form of resistance.

Agnes, growing impatient, said, "Ryder, I said I'm not hungry. I don't want it."

"Eat a bit, and I'll take you to visit your uncle tonight."

Agnes's pupils seemed to change color at that.

Jared was in detention, with no visitors allowed.

Even Alyssa hadn't managed a visit.

Agnes had even begged Jarvis.

But Jarvis had said Jared was a top-tier criminal, with no exceptions to be made.

Agnes had no idea what was going on inside.

Nor how Jared was doing.

Ryder's offer was a tantalizing lure.

Agnes stared at Ryder.

Ryder's expression was unusually tender.

"Come on, have a little. My cooking isn't worse than your uncle's."
