Heartstrings on Fire novel Chapter 1107

Agnes looked around, her eyes slowly coming into focus. She was in a hospital room, lying on a bed, but the place was almost deserted. Jared must have managed to secure a bed here for her to rest, she thought.

Checking the time, it was already two in the afternoon. After sleeping for a few hours, Agnes felt a lot better, although waking up meant facing the harsh reality once again. Sometimes, she wished she could just sleep forever.

As Agnes made to leave the room, worried thoughts swirled in her head. Jared must be waiting outside. He had been there for so long, and Agnes feared the toll it was taking on him. She was just about to swing her legs off the bed when someone entered the room. It was Elton, followed by a nurse.

"You overdid it with the blood donation yesterday and haven't fully recovered," the nurse chided. "We told you to lie down and rest, why won't you listen?"

As Elton stepped into the room and caught sight of Agnes, confusion crossed his face. "Is this your room?"

The nurse, realizing they knew each other, explained, "This room was set aside for your group to rest. Mr. Whitfield brought you in, and Mr. Taylor needed rest as well, so I brought him here too."

Agnes nodded in understanding as the nurse left after giving a few more instructions. Elton, looking none the worse for wear, approached Agnes, asking, "Are you okay?"

Agnes shook her head and stood up, "I'm fine." She avoided Elton's gaze, adding, "Since you donated so much blood, you should rest."

"You're worried about me?"

"Not really," Agnes replied tiredly. "After what happened yesterday, it was so horrific, I just don't want any more bad news for anyone at Albert's Arms. Godfather couldn't bear it."

Elton reassured her, "Don't worry about me; it was just a bit of blood. It's Phenix I'm worried about. I just came from there. Today's Sean's funeral, and she's nearly falling apart. She's been by his body at the morgue, not letting anyone touch him."

Hearing this, Agnes was shocked and made to leave at once but Elton grabbed her arm, stopping her. "It's too late to go now," Elton said. "Phenix has been taken back to her room, and Naylor and Nate are handling Sean's arrangements. I'll head over soon."

Agnes knew she should be there too. Elton continued, "But you should stay away. Go check on godfather. He's awake but no one has dared to tell him about Sean. If we all leave, he'll get suspicious. Stay with him."

Agnes hadn't realized Reggie was awake. Thinking it over, she agreed with Elton. So, she didn't go to Sean's funeral but went to see Reggie instead.

Reggie was awake but still very weak, an oxygen mask over his face, his head tilted slightly, eyes blinking slowly. When he saw Agnes, she hurried over, taking his hand and managing a small smile, "Godfather, you're awake. That's really good."

Reggie turned his head slightly as if he wanted to say something. Leaning closer, Agnes waited. Slowly, Reggie spoke, "Where are Sean and Phenix?"
