Heartstrings on Fire novel Chapter 393

Agnes ain't no fool.

Laura always plays the card of doing it for her own good.

But she spilled the beans without missing a beat.

Agnes had no idea how much of it was overblown.

But Agnes knew, a lot of it was Laura deliberately leading Beatrice on.

She wouldn't miss such a golden opportunity, would she?

Even though Agnes knew it was a trap, she had no choice but to jump in.

Laura suddenly burst into laughter.

She elegantly fixed her hair, saying, "Agnes, you're much smarter than your mom."

Laura stood up, walked over to Agnes: "Yes, I made Beatrice deliver the message so that I could secretly dig into the past and confirm with Alyssa. But the truth remains, she killed your mother, and you married Alyssa's brother."

"What's your goal?"

"My goal is simple, you should know it. Beatrice has a thing for Jared, but you got hitched with him. My silly daughter, I told her repeatedly to cool her jets, but she couldn't resist making a move on you. Now look where it got her. We could have waited patiently for you to uncover the truth and cut ties with the Whitfield family. But she was too impatient. Now she's ruined everything. I know, now there's hardly a chance for Beatrice to marry Jared. I have no other expectations. If you want to hold a grudge, hold it against me for being too scheming. Just let Beatrice off the hook this time, I promise she won't cause you any more trouble in the future. As for your marriage with Jared, it's up to you to weigh up. If you think the past is the past and it makes no sense to dig up your long-dead mother's case, you can continue being Mrs. Whitfield, as if we never had this conversation today."

Agnes smirked: "If Beatrice was half as cunning as you, she wouldn't be behind bars now. Ms. Laura, does my father know what a manipulative person you are?"

Laura beamed, "Your father is a clueless guy. In his eyes, I might be the most innocent person in the world."

Agnes chuckled, "I'll drop the charges this time. Please discipline your daughter better, Ms. Laura. At least make her as cunning as you before she goes out and wreaks havoc."
