Beatrice was surprisingly not at home.
The entire mansion seemed really quiet.
Seeing her return, the butler said respectfully, "Welcome home, miss. I've got the kitchen ready for dinner." Agnes shook her head, "No need, where's Ms. Laura?"
"The madam went out this afternoon and hasn't returned yet," the butler replied.
Before he could finish, Laura walked in.
Laura had changed into a new outfit, a leather coat, looking vibrant and very charming.
Laura saw Agnes and smiled, "Are you back so early today?"
Agnes turned around, keeping her cool, "Ms. Laura, you look really good today, have you been out?"
"Oh, just met up with some friends, I've been worried about your father's condition, my friends were worried about me too, so they suggested I get out for a breather," Laura replied casually.
Agnes was quite impressed with Laura's ability to lie.
She kept a straight face and her story was convincing.
If Agnes hadn't seen her with Berlin at the golf club that afternoon, she might actually have believed her.
Agnes smiled, "Ms. Laura, I hear you were quite the famous actress in the movie industry twenty years ago."
