Heartstrings on Fire novel Chapter 649

Jared's suggestion seemed good, so Agnes didn't object either.

So, the trio starts to divide the chores.

Nocturne seemed quite intrigued.

He usually slept for long hours, and when he was awake, he would spend most of his time quietly studying or reading.

There was rarely any rural entertainment like this happening.

Indeed, after dividing tasks, their efficiency skyrocketed.

It was as though they were having a silent competition amongst themselves.

Everyone was trying to finish their tasks as quickly as possible.

In just half an hour, Jared had already filled three baskets.

Agnes, however, was the slowest. She sat on a small stool, choosing and picking vegetables.

As it went on, her attention was completely drawn to the two people competing in the yard.

Her hands naturally slowed down.

"Mom, you're the slowest," Nocturne said, chuckling.

Agnes also laughed, brushing off the snow from Nocturne's hair. "Is it fun?"

Nocturne, in a rare moment of excitement, replied, "Very fun, I've never done this before."

Nocturne had a little free time since he was a child, and when he was awake, he was always coding with Nate.

Nate was introverted and didn't like to talk much.

So Nocturne had developed a mature character under his influence.

But it was a rare sight to see him this happy.

Agnes felt that this was how a child should be.

Jared said, "You should take Nocturne inside. It's cold out here, and his shoes are soaked. Go inside and change them."

Nocturne's shoes were indeed wet, but Jared's were even more soaked.

Agnes was a bit reluctant. She told Nocturne, "Go and change into slippers by yourself. I'll come in soon."

Nocturne obediently went inside.

Agnes stayed outside with Jared to pick more vegetables, hoping to speed things up with two people.
