Heartstrings on Fire novel Chapter 701

Agnes had an epiphany.

No wonder Phenix had said earlier that she couldn't keep the promise she'd made to Kearney , advising him to pick a partner for the evening at Eden Nights.

Presumably, Kearney had originally intended Phenix to be his plus-one.

Agnes agreed without hesitation, "No problem, Kearney, I'll accompany you to the dinner party."

During her four years in in Manhattan, Kearney had always been very good to her.

And with this current situation, Kearney had helped her immensely.

Now that he asked, there was no reason for Agnes to refuse.

Moreover, Agnes had recently been through a lot.

Her mind was a mess.

A trip abroad to clear her head seemed like a good idea.

Kearney explained, "Agnes, it's not as simple as you think. This time, you're not just attending as my date, but as my fiancée. Right now, Count and Countess Alexandra are looking to expand their market. They plan to handover the rights to a wine merchant. Nine major wine merchants have been invited, and I'm one of them. As far as I know, it's already been decided. This dinner party is more of a formality. But since it's not set in stone, I don't want to miss this opportunity."

Agnes knew what kind of man Kearney was.

In the business world, he was a ruthless genius, turning impossible tasks into possible ones.

Agnes naturally wanted to help him.

But Agnes asked, puzzled, "But what does this have to do with me pretending to be your fiancée?"

"You may not know this, but the Alexandras trust family men more. They believe that a family is the foundation and backbone of a business, and that family men are more responsible. To win their trust, I told them I already had a woman I loved and planned to propose. They were thrilled and eager to meet my beloved. So, you'll have to play the part of my fiancée, and we might even have to stage a fake proposal. The Alexandras are very emotional, and this could make a lasting impression and win their favor."

Agnes chuckled, "That's not a problem for me. You may not know this, Kearney, but I used to be an actress. I've been on TV."

Kearney laughed, "I didn't know that."

Agnes asked, "When do we leave?"
