Avery's body stiffened as she turned to him anxiously and asked, "Did you look at it?"

Elliot shook his head and said, "I didn't. Weren’t you the one who said I can't look at your phone?"

Avery nodded with a smile and said, "Good boy. It's not like I don't want to show it to you. Of course, you can look at it if you want to. It’s not like I'd get mad."

She said this, but she zipped her purse shut. It was obvious that she did not plan on showing her phone to him.

"Aren't you going to read it?" he asked. "Didn't you say it was spam? I think it probably was, too." Avery held her purse in one hand and held Elliot's arm with her other hand.
