"Hahaha! Dad, I'm just amused. I thought I have him all to myself after he retires, but there are still a lot of people who remember him," Layla said. "Dad, don't get upset! He just made the announcement as he thought that the press will talk about it, so it was best that he made the announcement first."
"So long as you are happy," Elliot said sincerely.
Since Layla was officially Eric's wife, Elliot decided that they should live their lives in whatever way pleased them.
"Dad, if you are really upset, I can get him to delete the post." Layla was worried as she could not see the look on Elliot's face through the phone.
"He has already posted it, so what's the point in deleting it now?" Elliot had been annoyed but had soon regained his composure. "Get him to hire a few more bodyguards, or I can send over a few from my house. Be safe whenever you go outside."
Layla sighed a breath of relief. "Dad, I knew you wouldn't be upset. Don't worry about us. I will hire a few more bodyguards."
After hanging up, Layla scrolled through all the comments under Eric's post and read each of the positive and negative comments happily, knowing that Eric was hers.
"It's a good thing that you've retired, or your fans might actually come after me," Layla teased.
"Those who would do such a thing aren't my fans." Eric reached out and touched her hair. "Why did you come outside without drying your hair?"
"There are heaters in the house, and I'm not going to sleep now, so it's going to dry on its own." Layla moved closer to him. "By the way, we are celebrating New Year's at my family's place this year. This is the first year we celebrate together since Ivy came home."
"Sure." Eric knew it because Elliot had mentioned it.
"I asked your parents to join us, but they didn't want to." She glanced at Eric.
"Don't worry. They have always spent New Year's on their own," Eric explained. "I usually have to work during New Year's, so I haven't been able to celebrate with them."
"But if that's the case, that's all the more reason to celebrate with them." Layla felt sorry for Eric's parents and said, "Why don't I celebrate with my family, and you do the same with yours?"
