"Hayden, do you know this woman?" Layla could sense that Hayden had feelings for this woman. "You don't have her contact, so that means you aren't really close to her, right?"
"I don't know her, but I know what I'm doing," he said. "I will get to the bottom of this."
"As you should, but be careful not to get fooled. She might be after your heart or your money."
"Do I look like a fool to you?"
"You don't, but people would occasionally tend to lose touch with these things from time to time. Your wit abandons you when you are in love," Layla said. "Back when I said that I wanted to marry Eric, you all thought that I'd gone mad."
"I didn't think it was a foolish choice," Hayden commented. "At least Eric won't take advantage of you in any way."
"Duh! I've managed to keep a leveled head, but you might not! After all, I married someone I've known since I was a kid, and you don't even know the mother of your child."
"That's enough." Hayden's head was pounding. "Are you not going home tonight as well?"
"I told you that I'm staying until the test results come back," Layla said with a smile. "Hayden, if you find the mother, are you going to meet her? Take me with you, and I can help with the negotiations."
"Negotiations? She already gave us the child, so why would there be negotiations?"
"Why are you so naive? The baby could just be the bait. Look at us. We are all wondering who the mother is right now, and you are desperately trying to find her, right?"
Hayden felt as though his sister had opened his eyes.
He did not know the woman, and she could be playing hard to get as Layla predicted.
