He did not mention that he was also giving himself a chance.
Before meeting Shelly, he could never picture what kind of a woman he would marry, because he had never felt anything for women.
The only thing he had considered was finding a wife of equal status and capability as he, for that way, they would at least share some common interests.
Never had he imagined that Shelly would change his mindset completely.
Shelly was instantly overwhelmed by emotions at his words.
"Why aren't you saying anything?" Hayden glanced at Shelly when he pulled to a stop in front of a red traffic light.
Shelly looked at him sincerely and said, "Hayden, you don't know this, but I've always felt that I'm not worthy of you. That's why I didn't dare to say anything even when I found out that I have feelings for you. I didn't want to make myself miserable or burden you. However, if you're willing to give me a chance, I'm willing to give it a try. No matter the outcome, I won't have any regrets."
Hayden fell silent for a moment before blurting out, "What do you like about me?"
It was such a cliche line in romance dramas and saying it made him feel nauseated.
"You're very handsome, and you're steady. You're sincere and respectful of others. I even hoped that you weren't so wealthy. If you were just an ordinary man, I would dare pursue you," Shelly said, her cheeks slightly flushed. "Isn't it laughable?"
"If I didn't have my current wealth, the Hayden you know might not exist at all," he said, knowing very well just how important money was in society.
"I know. That's why I feel foolish. After calming down, I still think you are the best version of yourself. Even if you have a different wife in the future, I will still wish you happiness." Shelly smiled and said, "Hayden, is it because of our two children that you're willing to give me a chance?"
Hayden did not want to deceive her and said, "Yes."
Shelly hummed and lowered her head.
