Even though there was no one else watching her, she still felt awkward and wished she could disappear into the ground.
She had agonized for half the day about what to wear, worrying that if she didn't dress well, she would become the subject of ridicule among Hayden's employees. She even wondered if dressing too ostentatiously would make her stand out, but as it turned out, they were supposed to wear a uniform for the team-building event.
After sending her measurements to Hayden, Shelly called Courtney.
"Courtney, I'm so embarrassed! They have designated uniforms for the team-building event," Shelly exclaimed.
On the other end of the phone, Courtney's tone was nonchalant as she said, "What's so embarrassing about that? You're not their employee, so nobody can dictate what you wear! Team-building outfits are usually quite ugly! You should dress up nicely, and you'll be just fine!"
"But I already gave my measurements to Hayden, and he said he would provide me with their team-building uniform." Shelly felt increasingly embarrassed. "Oh well, I guess I'll just wear the uniform! That way, even if I get lost, I can find my teammates by their outfits."
Courtney chuckled. "Do you want me to accompany you? I can be there with you and silently guard you while you enjoy your time with Hayden!"
Shelly felt a shiver down her spine. "No! I feel uncomfortable enough when I'm with him. He is such a serious guy..."
"But you still like him," Courtney remarked.
"I like him precisely because he appears aloof. Let me tell you, since I was young, I've always loved stoic male leads in romance novels. Even though I get nervous when I'm with Hayden, I still enjoy being with him." Shelly did not mean to boast, but she inadvertently sounded as if she was doing so.
"Shelly, I'm dining out right now, but when I return home, I'll pass by your neighborhood. Can I visit your villa later?" Courtney had wanted to visit for a while now, but with Mrs. Taylor being hospitalized the previous week, she had not had the opportunity to drop by.
"Of course! You can come anytime tonight."
"Alright. I should arrive in about half an hour. Wait for me! We'll talk when we meet."
"Mm-hmm!"
After hanging up, Shelly searched online for items one should bring for a team-building event. In case they ended up in a remote location, she wanted to prepare some simple medicine or snacks.
