Forced?
Acacia had been making moves on Thaddeus repeatedly, showing her affection so openly. And in his eyes, it's all just coercion?
"Thaddeus, I'm your fiancee! How could you say this about me?" Acacia's eyes instantly reddened, holding back her tears.
"Acacia, since the early days we were together, you knew I couldn't handle women being too forward or too affectionate," Thaddeus took a deep breath, his eyes slightly cold.
"Yes, I know, I've always known."
Due to Thaddeus's upbringing and childhood traumas, he's never been able to have a real intimate relationship with a woman. Just expressing his feelings was already a big step for him.
Otherwise, other women would have snatched up such a great guy like him long ago, even without Ilana.
"But ever since we got back together, you seem to have forgotten that."
Thaddeus clenched his fist, remembering Ilana's cold gaze.
He was confused, feeling guilt-ridden, but couldn't figure out what he had done wrong.
He's never been this lost in his life.
"But, Thaddeus, I'm about to marry you!" Acacia's eyes were red and slightly agitated, "We're not kids anymore. We can't just hug and hold hands forever! I will share a bed with you, have your children!"
Thaddeus took a step back unconsciously.
He thought marrying this woman was what he wanted.
But why was it that the closer they got to the wedding, the more panicked and resistant he felt?
Suddenly, the door was pushed open again.
Cassius staggered out from the banquet hall, his face flushed, his tie-clenching hand trembling, his eyes unfocused, as if he was drunk.
Thaddeus was puzzled when he felt the unusual heat coming from Cassius as he walked by.
Acacia hid behind Thaddeus, a cold smirk on her face.
Meanwhile, Evadne had just changed back into her clothes and walked out from backstage after removing her makeup.
"Ms. Ilana! Something's wrong!" the maid hurriedly approached her, "President Ashbourne is unwell and is resting in his room. Can you please check on him? He seems to be in quite a discomfort."
Upon hearing that Cassius was unwell, Evadne's heart immediately raced.
"Please, lead me to him!"
Thaddeus and Cassius left one after another, and Jareth was left alone, bored out of his mind, so he decided to take a stroll outside.
Night had fallen, and the stars filled the sky. The backyard garden was peaceful, with a small bridge and running stream, it was quite a sight.
Jareth admired the lights in the garden under the hazy moonlight; it was beautiful.
However, as he was enjoying the view, he suddenly heard rustling noises from the bushes.
Jareth's pupils suddenly contracted. He turned around and sternly asked, "Who's there?"
But no one answered, and the noise stopped.
It could've been a stray cat hiding in the bushes.
Jareth didn't overthink about it and was about to leave when the bushes began to rustle again!
And this time, he heard a soft female voice.
There was definitely someone in there!
Jareth furrowed his eyebrows and walked towards the bushes.
The voice was weak, with a hint of sobbing.
Jareth's heart raced, and his throat tensed up as he approached the bushes.
"Who's there? Come out."
