The morning sun was really cozy.

Evadne woke up from her soft bed, stretching her stylish butt lazily in the sheets, arms stretching forward like a kitty just getting out of a snooze.

As usual, she slipped on a pure white tracksuit and headed to the backyard lake for some solo kayaking.

Jason had already cleaned up and was waiting by the lake, left hand holding a water bottle, right arm carrying a clean towel, waiting for Evadne to come ashore.

"Gone. Every video of Glynnis insulting our hotel staff online is wiped clean. Keyword search, zilch."

Handing Evadne the white towel, Jason thoughtfully uncapped the water bottle, "There’s still a bit of chatter, but it'll blow over soon. Doubt it’ll stir up any trouble.”

“Of course, the Abernathy group PR and legal boys are top-notch in Elmsworth. And Thaddeus has them all under his thumb.” Evadne wiped the sweat beads trickling down her cheek, panting lightly.

"So, it was Thaddeus who had them wiped?" Jason asked, widening his eyes.

Evadne shook her hair lightly and tilted her head back to drink water, her eyes deep and unreadable.

She tilted her head back, her swan-like neck drawing a beautiful arc, just drinking water, but it was enough to make Jason’s heart race.

“Pursuit of profit, avoidance of harm. That's Thaddeus now.”

Lifting her hand to wipe the water droplets from her lips, Evadne smiled and said, “Had I met him in the business world first, I would never have fallen for this man.”

Fell for the wrong guy at the wrong time.

"So, what's your game plan now?"

Evadne, with her seemingly harmless eyes, was as clever as a fox. She had a plan.

“That girl hasn’t been discharged yet, right? I’ll start with a meeting at the hotel, then you accompany me to the hospital, see how she’s doing.”

A few hours later, at Ashbourne Hospital.

The girl had been moved to a general ward. Seeing the general manager herself coming to visit, she nervously tried to get up from the bed.

Evadne quickly stepped forward to hold her down, saying in a friendly manner, “Lie down, don’t stress, Bess. You need to rest up.”

“Manager. I’m sorry for causing you trouble!”

Bess, the girl, lowered her head in shame, “I didn’t think I’d get sick. I didn’t hide it on purpose. I really didn’t know it would be like this. I screwed up.”

“I checked your medical records, and this is your first episode. You didn’t have this condition before. It’s not hiding, don’t blame yourself.” Evadne smiled.

“Please deduct the hospital fees from my salary!”

“No need. This is a workplace injury, and the hotel will cover it.”

“Thank you.” Bess, both moved and upset, tears welled up in her eyes.

“I came to ask you something.”

Evadne’s expression turned serious, her voice clear and low, "What are you planning to do about Glynnis?"

“Glynnis is the Abernathy group's heiress. I don’t have any influence, power, or status. What can I do?

And this morning, I saw the videos online were deleted. I, as an ordinary person, seem to have lost even the right to voice out through media.” Bess lowered her head, looking very depressed.

“If the Abernathy group won’t give you the power, I will.”

Evadne squinted her eyes, her lips slightly open. Each word she uttered was forceful and determined.

Bess widened her eyes in surprise, “You will?”

“If you want Glynnis to apologize to you, then we need to publicize this. But, it will more or less affect your life. So, I came to ask for your opinion. After all, you're the one involved. Although I’m your boss, I can’t just do whatever without considering your feelings.” Evadne said calmly.

“I’d like Glynnis to apologize to me, even if it's just in private.”

“No private, we make it public.” Evadne always spoke succinctly and never beat around the bush.

“You want her to apologize publicly? How is that possible!” Bess exclaimed in disbelief.

“Bess, Glynnis will never apologize to you in private. She dared to insult you in front of so many people, and she will never apologize to you.”

Jason said softly, “If we force her into the public eye, she will have no choice but to apologize to you.”

“Let it go! I don’t want to cause trouble for the hotel or for you!” Bess quickly shook her head in fear.

“Don’t be scared. If Glynnis dares to retaliate, she’ll be digging her own grave. And I have my reasons for doing this.”

Evadne’s eyes sparkled with a hint of amusement, yet filled with determination, “If you agree, leave this to me. I won’t let my staff be wronged.”
