His Ex-Wife Is A Billionaire? novel Chapter 87

The door was open. With a swiftness that suggested he was afraid Evadne might change her mind, Jareth slipped inside.

"Ms. Ilana, coming over to your place is always like going through a battlefield. So tough!"

He took in the sight of the woman under the light. Wearing a robe that highlighted her curvaceous figure. Her cheeks glowed with a delicate softness that was incredibly attractive.

Jareth couldn't help but swallow.

"Mr. Jareth, your gaze appears to be a bit inappropriate," Jason remarked coldly.

"Everyone appreciates beauty. I'm just admiring a work of art, and not harboring any ill intentions." Jareth laughed it off.

His explanation was so ridiculous it was laughable.

"So, is this Blanche's masterpiece?" Evadne asked, staring at the box in his arms.

"Yep, bought two. One for Thad's grandpa, and the other is especially for you."

Jareth's eyes were brimming with excitement. "Ilana, Blanche's works are handcrafted. Only ten pieces are sold each year. They're really precious, you know?"

Evadne cleared her throat. "Have you eaten? Care to join me if you haven't?"

"Haven't! I've been waiting outside your hotel since five. I'm so hungry my stomach's practically touching my back!" Jareth's voice was shaking with anticipation.

Jason rolled his eyes. Jareth’s laid-back demeanor was enough to make anyone roll their eyes.

"Jason, go to the kitchen and make Mr. Jareth a bowl of spaghetti Bolognese." As she took the box, Evadne instructed him while heading to the living room.

"It seems Mr. Jareth believes our hospitality has been lacking." Jason saw his chance. "Indeed, our food might not meet your standards. You might not be used to our cooking."

"No! Who said that? Don't make things up! I'll eat!"

Jareth felt a sudden pang in his chest as if a firework had just exploded in his mind.

As Jason prepared the meal, Evadne and Jareth sat in the living room admiring Blanche's work. She held a crystal-clear fan in her hand. The fan was fully opened, resembling a water fountain. The sculpture was carved from a single piece of white crystal, giving the static sculpture a lively beauty.

"Wow...so beautiful..." Evadne couldn't help but exclaim, feeling as if her soul was purified. She carefully lifted the fan from its stand.

In an instant, Jareth's eyes widened. Her delicate hands were even more beautiful than the meticulously crafted sculpture, making the crystal fan seem dull in comparison.

"Ilana, do you like it?" Jareth looked at her, head tilted.

"Absolutely, I admire this artist's work. It's truly astonishing." Joy radiated from Evadne's face.

"I like it too..."

"Thank you, Mr. Jareth. You're really thoughtful." Evadne's expression turned serious. "But I can't just take it. You must have put a lot of effort into getting this piece. Give me a price, and I'll buy it."

"Ilana, I'll be heartbroken if you talk about money." Jareth touched his chest.

"I've always loved this artist's work. I was planning to go abroad this year to buy one but didn't have the time. Your gift is really thoughtful. So, let's strike a deal. I'll buy it, and you won't feel your efforts were wasted. Both of us will be satisfied."

Evadne smiled. "Besides, I don't like owing anyone anything."

"No can do...I won't take the money!"

"Then name your condition. As long as I can fulfill it, I'm all ears."

Jareth was delighted to hear this, grinning widely, and then he leaned towards Evadne. "Next week is Grandpa's birthday. Could you come with me?"

"Choose something else."
