A black car was blocking the way at the gate. Lily’s driver frowned and muttered, "Does he not know he's blocking someone's entrance?" Then he honked twice.
However, the other car did not move, even though it was evident the driver was still in the car. It seemed the other driver was doing this on purpose. Lily's driver began to feel anxious as he honked again, and the bodyguards with her were also on guard since this was unusual.
Just as they were about to get down, the car suddenly reversed, turned around, and left unexpectedly. Everyone thought that whoever was in the car must have had bad intentions. No one expected the other person to drive away like that.
Still, Lily's driver was tense. He did not move the car for another two minutes until he could no longer see the other car’s silhouette. Then he let out a sigh of relief. "Maniac!" Only then did he start the car and drive in.
Lily glanced in the direction where the car drove off, thinking it was not as simple as it seemed. The driver in the car seemed to be looking at her, but she could not tell who it was through the glass.
After that, everything continued as usual. That evening, Alexander called, saying he would return late. After all, it was the end of the year. The company was bustling with things to do and was not limited to only domestic businesses. Alexander had already put off all his overseas deals because of her pregnancy. However, there was still work for him to deal with.
As for the car this morning, Lily did not bring it up. Firstly, she did not think it was a big deal since the other party did nothing, and she had no idea why they were there. Secondly, she did not want to add to the pile of things Alexander had to worry about.
"Don't wait for me tonight, and sleep early after dinner. It's cold today. Are the heaters on?" Alexander asked one question after the other.
"It's not like you don't live here. How can you not know?" Lily retorted as she smilingly twisted her hair with one hand. Her hair was longer now as she had not cut it since she got pregnant.
Alexander laughed when he heard that. "I'll be back as soon as I can."
"All right."
After two seconds of silence, Lily thought he had hung up when his voice sounded. "Do you miss me?"
His voice was so soft and affectionate that it melted her heart, leaving her with a warm feeling. Instead of answering, she pursed her lips and laughed.
"Why are you laughing? Does that mean you miss me?"
"Nope!" After a pause, she mumbled coquettishly, "I don't miss you!"
Alexander laughed before saying, "I'll wish you goodnight in advance, then."
"Goodnight!"
After hanging up the phone, Lily plastered a smile on her face. A split second later, the room suddenly fell into darkness. All the lights went out, even those in the yard. The whole house instantly plunged into dead silence and darkness.
The servants in the house were also stunned, and it took them a while before they exclaimed, "What happened?!"
