Ralph jolted awake when he heard something. He looked over his shoulder and saw Heather sitting inside the approaching car and excitedly jogged to it.
Chump noticed him, looked over his shoulder, and said, “Miss?”
“Ignore him and drive!” Heather said coldly.
Chump followed her orders and stepped on the accelerator as the car swished past Ralph so fast that it nearly knocked him over if he had not gotten out of the way in time.
Ralph was shocked. He saw the gate to her house open, but when he caught himself and went after the car, it closed again, and he slammed into it with a bang. The impact was so significant that he clenched his teeth in pain.
Having the gate shut in his face, Ralph was perplexed and angry. If he had been tolerating the woman before this, he decided she had gone too far now.
‘Although women are as mercurial as the temperature, Heather alternated between extremes. If other women change their minds every other week, Heather might change hers dozens of times in a day!’
Ralph was upset and kicked the gate a few times but only managed to cause himself pain. He also heard a strange noise. He looked up and saw several gun barrel-like objects pointing in his direction from the originally bare top of the fence wall.
He was dumbfounded. “Why didn’t I see those before? Are they new?”
He forgot Heather had let him in before this, and there was no need to deploy them then. He could not help but laugh after two seconds, thinking the gun barrels were only for show.
‘We’re in Hyderland. If Heather dared to install real guns, she would have long gotten arrested!’
“I don’t believe these are loaded with bullets!” He looked up and shouted at those “guns.” Thinking that Heather must be watching him via the CCTV camera, he supposed she was throwing a tantrum or simply wanted to test whether he was brave enough.
“If they truly are, shoot me! Come on, shoot!” Ralph pointed at his chest and dared her. “If I dodge your attack, I’ll change my family name—Hey!”
Before he could finish, a swoosh sounded. Something cold swished past his ear, and he saw something stuck on the ground near the tip of his foot. It was an arrow.
They were indeed not loaded with bullets, but someone had redesigned them to shoot arrows! He heard several swooshes and immediately jumped backward without thinking before he could even wipe the cold sweat off his forehead.
Ralph panicked, stumbled, and fell onto the dusty ground, making a fool out of himself.
Not knowing the arrows’ shooting range, he scrambled for some distance and only turned around when he felt safe. He was shocked by what he saw. Countless arrows were now on the ground outside the gate. The arrowheads were sharp and glinted darkly.
