It felt miraculous to her.
"Maybe it's because I'm having so much fun at your house that I don't feel like sleeping." Anastasia tried to rationalize with herself. "If that's the case, I'll come over here more often. Lily, you won't hate me for that, will you?"
Lily smiled. "Of course not, but…"
She paused for a moment before she stretched her hand out. "I'll have to charge you for your meals!"
Instantly, Anastasia broke into laughter, amused by this woman in front of her. "Okay! No problem!"
She slapped Lily's hand lightly, and the two shook hands with a smile on both their faces.
…
Anastasia went home after dinner. A few minutes after she left, Alexander's car pulled in.
Initially, Lily was waiting to greet him with a smile, but as soon as she saw him, she felt something was amiss. The couple had been together for so long that they could detect a subtle change in emotion at a glance.
Without asking anything, she patiently waited for him to come over before she softly asked, "Are you tired? Have you eaten? I'll get the maids to warm up some food. Rest, and I'll bring some food over to you in a bit."
Alexander raised his eyes to look at her. The fatigue in his eyes was evident, but he did not say a word.
"I'll get them to do it right away!" With that, Lily turned around, but Alexander quickly grabbed her. "It's okay. I'm just about to leave."
"Now?!" She widened her eyes in surprise. She thought she must have misheard him.
