Dominic was slack-jawed as well. He saw the child looking over at him and quickly gave him a thumbs-up. “You’re amazing!”
The boy grinned and puffed out his chest after Dominic praised him.
Lily cocked her head and studied the lock. She was not good at this and could not understand the mechanism behind it. She had seen it on TV before, and there was an online urban legend that someone could open all the neighborhood doors with a single strand of instant noodle.

“Who taught you that? She looked toward Galen, wanting to know where he had learned such a thing.
“Dee-Dee!” Galen answered thoughtfully.
“Who’s Dee-Dee?” The older man looked puzzled.
“Daisy?” Lily asked after some thought, “Aunt Daisy?”
“Yes!” Galen said, nodding sharply, “I learned it myself!”
His contradictory remarks puzzled Dominic. “So you learned it yourself, or did Aunt Dee-Dee teach you?”
“Hmm…” Galen knitted his brow and did not know how to organize the right words to explain something somewhat complex to him.
However, Lily was his mother, so she understood what he meant. “Did you learn it when Aunt Dee-Dee was doing it?”
