The light came in through the door, and Austin entered Thompson’s sight.
“You!” Thompson widened his eyes, taken aback as he was not expecting someone to hide in the room.
“Professor Thompson, it’s me,” Austin whispered and put his finger to his lips, signaling Thompson to be quiet. He feared Rhea would hear them, even though she had left a while ago. He knew he would be in deep sh*t if Rhea returned.
“Aus…tin?” Fortunately, Thompson softened his voice, and it did not look like he wanted to make this a big issue.
“Professor Thompson, it’s me!” Austin repeated himself, but with a different tone and meaning this time.
“You…” Thompson sighed as he looked outside before heading into the room, quickly closing and locking the door after him. While he approached Austin, he asked, “Why are you here?”
“I…” Austin let out a bitter smile.
‘Why am I here? D*mn it! That’s what I’d like to know as well! I heard something I shouldn’t have!’
Austin patted his chest and finally remembered the item he was holding. “It’s this. I managed to create a medicine that could calm patients down. I came here to share the good news with you!”
He took a few steps to show he was telling the truth. Upon hearing that, Thompson’s eyes lit up, but when he reached for the test tube, he curled his fingers back, sighing.
