“How can there be anything we’re unaware of? You know what your daughter is like. She’s just a nerd, and unlike other girls, all she does is read books, study, and conduct her experiments.
“I think Cameron is just trying to fool you.” Maria was so protective of her daughter that she did not think anything could be wrong with her.
The truth was that Fabian did not get it either. Although his wife was biased, she was right that the chance of Rhea interacting with Cameron was meager as she hardly even hung out with Anastasia.
‘These two didn’t enjoy playing together when they were young and hardly met one another, leading their own lives as grownups. How could Ree possibly offend Ron?’
Maria noticed how quiet Fabian was and asked, despite herself, “So the project has gone up in smoke?”
Fabian looked gloomy when his wife mentioned that. “It’s a done deal. What can I do about it? I couldn’t possibly take the project from the Russell family by force. It wouldn’t work.”
“Then what should we do?” Maria was desperate.
Although she did not know much about his business, her husband had told her how important the project was. If it fell through, that would end his company and the family.
“How about I go and beg Cameron? Guys like you are too direct. Perhaps there could still be a chance if I beg him. If not, he could still give us some minor projects, couldn’t he?” She choked up as she spoke.
“It’s not your first time meeting Cameron. Do you think it’ll work if you beg him?” Fabian pulled a long face and was in a nasty mood.
“Then what should we do?” Maria’s legs went limp, and she nearly sat on the floor. She felt there was no hope.
