"Really?" The man questioned with a half-smile. He did not know if he should believe her, but he did not want to persist.
Instead, he walked to the window and looked at the scenery outside before calmly saying, "The bidding for the vaccine development project had long ended. Your father did not win the bid. Just like that, he let a big fish escape from his grasp."
"What do you mean?" Rhea did not understand why he would suddenly bring this up.
"Cameron Rollins is your uncle, and your father is his brother-in-law. Still he didn’t secure the project for your father. Your uncle is incorruptible!" He sneered and shook his head.
"Cameron has always been like that," Rhea answered lightly. "My parents can't seem to wrap their minds around it."
"Can you?" The man turned around and asked. "Your family is about to go bankrupt! Without this project, your father's company's capital chain will be cut off. Debt collectors will be knocking at your door. The bank and other companies will cut ties with you. Can you still feel at ease experimenting here?"
Hearing this, Rhea's eyes widened as she looked up at him.
She hardly asked questions when it came to family matters, nor did she bother understanding them. When they visited the Rollins' house today, her parents were eager to settle accounts with Cameron, but Rhea had no interest in it. In her eyes, apart from her own experiments, everything else was a trivial matter.
Upon hearing this, she began to have second thoughts. Was it that serious? Although she could support herself, her life would never be as comfortable if her family went bankrupt.
A frown began to form on her face as she silently waited for the man's next words.
"Do you want to save your parents?" As expected, the man asked.
