Alexander was very thoughtful. However, judging from how Greg acted, Alexander had probably trained him. The security measures of this place were also very well planned.
"Then…" After pondering for a moment, Lily asked softly, "Where's Edward?"
Alexander fell silent as soon as he heard that name, and his face turned solemn.
From the looks of it, the situation might be more ominous than Lily had thought. Her mood dropped as well. On the one hand, she wanted to know the answer, but on the other, she was afraid of what she might hear.
‘If something bad happened, how would Olivia take it?’
"Many died in the factory," Alexander began slowly, "Some died from the war, and some from the plague. I knew I couldn't stay any longer and had to return."
After a pause, he continued, "The whole situation was chaotic. Just as we were about to leave, we ran into a bunch of thugs. Edward took a bullet for me…"
"Is he dead?" Lily suppressed the sadness that startled to bubble in her heart and asked directly.
"Maybe." Alexander sighed. "He was still alive when I left, but he didn't come with me. He urged me to go and said he would cover for me. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have been able to make it back as smoothly as I did."
Although his explanation was brief and light, Lily could feel how complicated and dangerous it was at that time just by listening to him.
