Lily choked up saying that.
She was not a weak person, but the incident made her feel terrible. Probably because she considered Debbie to be her daughter, whenever she thought about Debbie, she wanted to find a cure immediately and give whoever created the virus a severe beating.
‘Technology is so advanced now, and human beings have created many inventions through research to better our lives. We’re not supposed to cause deaths or turn our world into hell just to realize the ambitions of a small group of people.’
Alexander reached out and gently held her gloved hand. “Then let her stay upstairs.”
Puzzled, Lilly frowned. “You want to switch rooms with her?”
Alexander chuckled. “There is more than one VIP room upstairs, and they're all empty. Why can’t they allocate one more room? If additional money is needed, we’ll pay for it. If the social status is required…”
He paused before speaking gently. “Then she’s our daughter. That should do it, right?”
“Daughter?”
Nodding, he said, “Didn’t you say her mother has passed away, and no one has bothered to show her any concern? Then we’ll be her parents. When she gets better, and the pandemic is over, we’ll apply to adopt her. If it’s too much trouble, we can become her godparents.”
“You’re willing to do all that?” Lily was surprised.
“Why not? We don’t have a daughter yet, and we’re unsure if the twins are girls. Even if they are, it’s good to have an elder sister as their companion.” He cast a gentle gaze on her stomach.
