Austin seemed to let himself get dragged forward numbly as he tried to memorize the ground under his feet and the voices around him. He felt himself getting carried into the elevator, and the elevator descended accordingly.
He wondered if he had been on the top floor, but the elevator ride was short, meaning he was not too high.
After getting dragged out, he began to listen attentively. He did not hear the sound of high heels or anything else besides the voices of the two men dragging him around. Austin wondered whether or not Rhea followed.
He silently analyzed the journey until the two men pushed him into a car. When the car started, he began counting the time inwardly.
‘Mike mentioned I should wait 20 minutes from when the car started.’
Austin could not see, and although he did not have a watch, keeping track of time was easy because he had spent all his time doing it when he was locked up. He no longer needed to look at a time to figure out an approximate number. Moreover, this involved his life, and he avoided any miscalculations.
With his hands tied behind his back, he patted around and found a knot. The strange thing was that the knot did not feel like the usual one. The current knot felt looser than the previous one, making it easier for him to break free.
After moving around a little more, he broke himself free, which puzzled him. Everything was going smoothly, so Austin wondered if Mike had arranged for someone to tie him up like that or if it were another trap.
Hesitation flashed across his mind, but he knew he had no time to think. As the car moved down the road, he silently counted the time. Judging by the sound of breathing, there should only be three people in the car, including the driver.
He would break free and grab the steering wheel if things went according to plan. That would cause chaos, and the chance for him to escape would be high.
‘Still, would things go that smoothly? Was Mike telling the truth?’
Austin did not have long to doubt himself. After all, his 20 minutes were almost up. The closer the time came, the faster Austin's heartbeat. 'Five…four…three…two…one!’
At this time, he exuded a burst of strength and broke free from the ropes before pulling the cloth over his eyes. The people in the car did not expect him to break free and were stunned for a moment before immediately rushing over to subdue him.
Austin’s survival instincts seemed to overpower them as he swung them away. Then he rushed forward with a clear goal—the steering wheel.
The driver panicked as he tried to shake Austin off with one hand and desperately held onto the steering wheel with the other. The other two people in the car returned to their senses and immediately jumped up to try and subdue Austin again.
Austin was curious to know if he had gathered all his strength just for today or if it was the drug that Mike had given him. Austin felt a rush of power as he knocked the two people holding him down and rushed forward again to compete with the driver.
Although it was hard for him to grab the steering wheel from behind, the driver was still getting disrupted, and the car began to swerve.
Austin grabbed the steering wheel with one hand and pushed the driver's head away with the other. Simultaneously, he looked up and realized they were driving past a street market.
The car swerved through the street crazily, and the crowd immediately dispersed. Then the car rushed uncontrollably into a shop. After crashing into the railing, it flipped and landed on the ground with a bang.
