Since Edward had yelled at him, Alexander did not argue and stopped. “When and how did you return? Why did you block me on your phone? You know I’ve been looking for you. Just what the hell happened?”
“We both know what happened.” Edward said coldly, “Why should we go through it again?”
“I don’t!” Alexander remained still, but his imposing demeanor had not diminished. He raised his brows and studied Edward up and down. “Tell me what exactly happened that day. We got caught in a gunfight before boarding the plane.
“You let me go first and took bullets for me. I’ll always remember what you did. The first thing I did when I came back was to send people to look for you, but they failed. I want to know what happened after that and how you returned!”
Alexander immersed himself in his memories. He spoke clearly without a hint of guilt on his face. Meanwhile, Olivia kept staring at him to try and find a loophole in his story or trace of him lying. However, she had an inexplicable feeling that Alexander’s explanation was spot on.
‘Based on how Edward is and his unwavering loyalty to Alexander over the years, I think he would take bullets for Alexander. However…’
Olivia slowly moved her gaze over to Edward. ‘He’s my lover. I haven’t only treated the wounds on him and seen his blood, but I know how much he has suffered. What is the truth if what he told me was a lie?’
“If that’s your story, I have nothing to say.” Edward turned his wheelchair away indifferently. “Leave. I’ve heard enough.”
“Edward, you’ve been with me for years, and I know what you’re like. You should know how I’ve treated you—”
Before Alexander could finish, Edward interrupted him, “How you treated me? You’re right! I always thought you’re a good boss, but it was only during that moment of life and death that I realized…”
“That you realized I cared only about my own life?” Alexander interjected and took three steps forward. Then he forcefully turned the wheelchair around to face Edward.
Taken aback, Edward wanted to turn his wheelchair back but was too late.
“Edward! That’s not the first time we faced life and death situations together, and you’ve taken bullets and knives for me before. When have I ever used you as a human shield? Besides, why would I have to push you since I already know you would take bullets for me? Did you see me doing that, or did someone tell you that?”
Alexander stared into Edward’s eyes, not letting him evade his gaze. His eyes were like an X-ray machine, trying to see through Edward thoroughly.
“I don’t want to talk to you. I have nothing to say to you!” Edward looked away in disgust and impatience.
“Do you have nothing to say to me, or do you not know how to answer my questions? Maybe you can’t find an answer from your prepared speeches,” Alexander said.
The more Edward behaved this way, the more Alexander pressed him for an answer.
“I almost died for you and did what I was supposed to do. From now on, I don’t want anything to do with you. You two, leave!” Agitated, Edward threw what he held at them, including the blanket, on him.
“Argh!” He yelled maniacally.
