A patient’s descriptions were crucial to a physician, especially when dealing with complicated diseases. Through detailed descriptions and observation, one could analyze and determine the state of a patient’s body and the internal injuries that may have caused a particular pain.
Austin stared at his granduncle for two seconds and saw him leaning against the pillow with his eyes closed. Dominic could hardly move his lips while his face was whiter than paper. Still, the older man was coherent.
Then Austin held the pen and jotted down what his granduncle said. After a while, Dominic suddenly stopped. Austin thought his granduncle would continue and looked at him, but the older man’s head had drooped aside.
“Uncle Dom?” Austin called out tentatively but received no response.
“Uncle Dom,” he called out again, flustered, “Uncle Dom!”
After receiving no reply, Austin anxiously put down his pen and hugged the older man. “Uncle Dom!”
He burst into tears and even forgot to check Dominic’s pulse.
“What the f*ck are you doing?!” Dominic spoke again impatiently with a frown. Although he was upset, he was still alive.
Austin let go of his granduncle and looked at him. He saw Dominic staring back with half-opened eyes. Austin chuckled in tears, saying, “Thank goodness you’re alive!”
Dominic said, “You could have checked my pulse, couldn’t you?”
