“B-But—” Michelle wiped her tears and remembered something. She said, “Didn’t you say there might be dangerous viruses around, and we should stay indoors to avoid crowds? Must you go on a long journey now?”
Although she was pleased that her son had become sensible, she could not help but worry about his safety.
“I’m going now, Mom. I meant when the crisis is over,” Austin chuckled and looked at his watch. “It’s getting late. I should get going.”
Michelle became wide-eyed. “Dinner will be ready soon. Go after your meal, okay?”
“I have to go,” he said as he headed out, “I’d love to have dinner with you guys, but there are too many things I need to handle now.”
“What could be so important? You—” Michelle wanted to persuade him, but her husband pulled at her arm and shook his head, saying quietly, “Just let him go.”
‘But…”
“It’s good that he’s become such a responsible person. Don’t you think he’s more like a good doctor now?” Elijah said happily, gazing after his son as he went away.
Michelle stopped arguing when she heard that. Despite her sadness, she felt her son had turned over a new leaf.
Austin drove straight to the hospital. According to Dominic, a young woman had a suspected infection, and he needed to treat her.
As Austin had contacted the hospital beforehand, someone came out to greet him when he arrived and began a series of preparation for him—disinfecting Austin and helping him to put on his hazmat suit.
However, Austin waved no when he saw the suit and headed inside, wearing only a white coat, mask, and a pair of goggles.
