Lily’s tone was unfriendly.
The doctor was reaching for medical instruments, and his hand stopped.
Lily kept her head down and gently patted her babies to soothe them. She said, “What’s the point of these physical examinations? I know my body well. No one can stop me if I kill myself.
“Tell your bosses they should agree to my conditions if they want me to cooperate. Otherwise, they won’t have what they want. I can guarantee that.”
Everyone present, including the doctor, looked at each other with troubled expressions. After a momentary silence, the doctor said, “Ms. Christian, you’re putting us in a difficult situation. We have no idea who’s in charge and what conditions you have. We’re just…following orders.”
Lily nodded and finally raised her head to look at him. “Then tell whoever it is that I want to see them. I have something to say. Otherwise, they won’t get what they want. That’s it!”
After briefly stating her thoughts, she carefully placed her child in the small cart. Then she glanced at her other child, sleeping soundly with their head tilted to one side, and noticed how similar the twins looked.
However, she could already differentiate between the two in just a few days. The child’s twin brother had a good temperament and slept well, always looking peaceful. Meanwhile, his twin sister was more temperamental and would pout and cry over discomfort.
There was a time the baby girl cried aloud when the doctors brought her to Lily.
Lily thought her daughter was sick but later realized she was in a bad mood. Interestingly, her twin brother remained sound asleep, seemingly undisturbed by his sister’s crying.
Lily gently patted her daughter to soothe her back to sleep before looking at the doctor, asking, “Where do you want to do the examination?”
The doctor was at a momentary loss, stammering, "W-What?"
