Deep down, Derrick blamed himself for being too busy at the time. A father should play an essential role in guiding his son, but Derrick had failed in his duty, and he knew he could not put the blame wholly on another person.
Stephanie, on the other hand, felt chills down her spine. She had treated Eloise like her own sister, but Eloise had maliciously led her son astray!
“Then we should…”
“Wait. The drama is coming to an end soon.” Derrick sighed and said as he quietly looked out the window at the setting sun.
…
When Arianna got home, she was surprised to see her father sitting in the living room, which he rarely did. With a curious frown, she walked over. “Dad, why are you here?”
“Where else should I be? Anyway, I’ve tried to call you. Where were you?” Joseph asked angrily, “Don’t you know that the reporters have been all over your brother? Shouldn’t you be thinking of a solution? Where the h*ll did you go?”
“I went to look for a solution!” Arianna handed her jacket to a housekeeper and said solemnly, “Dad, the reporters aren’t just all over Damian. They’ve also stationed themselves at the hospital where Naomi Schiffer is, so there was nothing I could do there.
“If we got her to change her statement in the beginning, it would be easier to handle, but now that Damian had made a scene, even if we talk to her and she changes her statement, people would still think she has yielded to our pressure, and this won’t do us any good.”
Joseph nodded quietly, thinking that she was right. “What should we do then?”
“I think the most important thing is to prove that there’s nothing wrong with our perfumes. Dad, I’ve arranged to send the remaining perfumes to the lab, including the ones just manufactured and some from the last batch. They will do a random check, and we’ll have the report by tomorrow afternoon. We can clear the company's name when we show it to the public.”
She poured a glass of water and gulped it down in one shot, apparently very thirsty. “I went to take care of the matter today. I had to rush over before they got off work, and I did it personally to ensure nothing would go wrong.”
What she said calmed Joseph down. He let out a sigh of relief and nodded. “Thank goodness you knew what to do. You’re right. As long as the lab result shows nothing wrong, the rumor will end, and we can even countersue Naomi for slander. Serves her right for making statements without real proof.”
“I couldn’t agree more.” Arianna nodded. “Just be patient and wait until the lab report is out. As for Damian, we must ask him to try and stay at home for two days.”
“Okay.”
Now that he had become calmer, he noticed how exhausted Arianna looked and took pity on her. “Ari, you’re all we’ve got for the coming two days. I know you’re capable, and I’m counting on you to help your brother in the future. He’s still wet behind his ears, so look out for him.”
“I will, Dad!” Arianna poured herself another glass of water and gulped it down while letting out a discreet, cold smile.
‘That b*stard has caused so much trouble, and dad still wishes to give the company to him! Dad even asked for my help! On what grounds? Everything the Tanners own will be mine. All of it!’
