“I-I understand,” Hannah answered in a small voice without looking up, “I’m sorry, I won’t repeat this.”
Heather was satisfied with Hannah’s attitude and nodded. “Okay. Remember, your body isn’t yours but mine. No matter what you plan to do with it, you must discuss it with me first. Make sure you take good care of your body, too, okay?”
“Okay,” Hannah replied.
Heather smiled in satisfaction, “Go and get someone to apply some medicine for you. Remember to eat well too. You’ve lost too much weight.”
“Yes,” Hannah replied and walked toward her room in the basement. Her small room was the only place where she felt safe.
“Right, I’ll be moving into the Russell family’s house from tonight onward. You’ll stay here. Ensure you don’t walk around so the others won’t see you, okay?” Heather called out to Hannah and told her about her plans.
Instead of nodding in acknowledgment, Hannah turned around and looked at Heather. “You’re moving in with him?”
“What’s wrong?” Heather raised an eyebrow and looked at Hannah. “You have something to say about it?”
“No!” Hannah shook her head. She could not help but ask, “You don’t need me to go on your behalf? I thought you hated Ral—that guy from the Russell family?”
“Indeed, I hate him, but it’s not like I’m going there to sleep with him. I must retrieve something from the Russell family.” Heather poked Hannah’s forehead. “Why? You want to go on my behalf to sleep with him?”
“N-No, I don’t,” Hannah shook her head furiously as her face flushed red even though she denied it, her eyes avoided Heather’s gaze.
As Heather noticed the change in Hannah’s demeanor, she could not help but ask, “Don’t tell me you’ve fallen in love with him.”
“N-No, I didn’t!” Hannah immediately denied it. “You said he’s just some good-for-nothing guy, so why would I fall for him? I know you have something important to do, and I’m glad I can help. I’ll follow your instructions and promise not to fall for him. I can’t fall for him.”
Heather could not tell if Hannah meant what she said, but it made her feel good, so she smiled and commented, “I’m glad you think that way. However, I don’t care if you’re just saying this to brush me off, but you should remember it. As for that guy, if there was a need for that, I’ll send you to him,” She concluded.
Of course, Heather would never sacrifice her integrity for some idi*t. Besides, Hannah could always take her place, and Heather was relieved her sister could be helpful at times like these.
“Okay, I’ll take my leave then,” Hannah said. She dared not say anything more for fear of offending her sister. This time, Heather did not stop her and just waved toward Hannah dismissively.
After returning to her dark basement room, Hannah looked at herself in the mirror. She removed her clothes to reveal scars and scabs all over her. There were old and new ones, and she was already used to this. After all, she was just a tool to Heather.
