However, Fire Dragon, who was standing at the side, wasn't excited or even joyous at all. He said in a tone full of concern, "Boss won't be able to hold on much longer. His aura is pretty much drained, it's almost empty now. If this continues, I'm afraid he won't be able to keep going."
"What? How could this be?" Evelyne, who had been remarkably thrilled just earlier, was crestfallen.
At the same instant, although Fade still looked calm and collected on the outside, he was suffering deep inside.
He was indeed close to exhausting his aura.
Fortunately, his previous exhibition of strength had scared the wits out of the eight troopers in front of him. They looked at each other with horror in their eyes.
In the end, the eight remaining troopers decided to cut and run.
Apparently, their lives were more important than the prizes promised by the Loh and Gu families.
Looking at the trooper's backs, Fade breathed a sigh of relief. He collapsed to the ground and gasped for air desperately.
Evelyne and Fire Dragon approached him hurriedly upon seeing this.
"Fade, are you alright?"
"Don't scare me, boss."
Fade squeezed out a smile and reassured, "There's no need to worry. I'll just need some rest, that's all."
Evelyne grabbed Fade's hand and transferred all her remaining positive energy into him, an attempt to help him recover.
After a while, Fade's fragile body regained some strength. He could finally stand up from the ground.
Fire Dragon inquired, "Boss, so what should we do now? Where should we go?"
Evelyne turned her head to look at the spatial channel that Fade obliterated not too long ago. Her eyes flickered slightly as she fixed her gaze on Fade as well.
Fade was deep in thought. Suddenly, his expression altered dramatically as he yelled, "Run!"
Almost at the same time, Fade grabbed both of his companions and made a run for it.
However, a massive aura loomed over the trio like an arrow from a bow.
A gigantic dark cloud seemed to cover the entire sky. It trashed and rolled after the escaping trio.
In mere seconds, a jet- black shadow was above their heads. The rolling sounds were like storm and thunder, "You can't get away."
"Boom!"
A stream of positive energy struck down and blasted Fade and his fellow companions. They were thrown on the ground severely as blood oozed from the corner of their lips.
Then, the shadow in the air landed on the ground and observed Fade with an apathetic glare, "Hand over the Ice Soul Pearl!"
Fade glanced at the man in front of him. He was wearing the Loh family's insignia, "Did the Loh family send you?"
The shadow spoke in a deep voice, "The name's Tiernan Loh. Give up the Ice Soul Pearl now and perhaps your life can be spared."
Evelyne was right beside Fade and overheard their brief exchange. She hastily whispered, "Tiernan Loh is Ezekiel's uncle. His skills and talents are second only to Ezekiel's father, Amman Loh. He's the second strongest in the Loh family."
Fade's eyebrows furrowed upon hearing Evelyne's words. He mustered the remaining positive energy in his body as he mentally devised an escape plan.
Unfortunately, Tiernan was one of the Fetus Refine Realm's venerable masters. He instantly sensed Fade's slight movement. With a snort, a surge of positive energy burst through the air and penetrated Fade's veins. In mere seconds, Fade's blood was all over the place.
"Fade!" Evelyne shrieked out of shock. She rushed to Fade's side and transferred more of her positive energy to heal his injuries.
Tiernan stood tall and looked down at them with a cold glare, "My patience is finite."
Fade rolled his eyes and finally made up his mind. He bit his lip as he raised his head and fixed gazes with Tiernan, "I'll give it up on one condition."
"You don't have the rights to negotiate with me," Tiernan waved his hand gently. Dark clouds wadded and completely covered the sky as thunders roared and bolts of lightning struck. It was as if the storm above would drop any time and burn the trio into ashes.
Fade activated the Ice Soul Pearl and held it in his hand. He responded coldly, "I do not doubt that with power such as yours, you're able to kill us off effortlessly."
"However, I've already refined the Ice Soul Pearl. If you kill me, I will shatter it before I take my last breath."
Tiernan sneered, "You dare threaten me?"
"We're making a deal," Fade replied.
"You're a venerable master, so you should know that refining a treasure like this requires the infusion of the soul energy. It doesn't matter how fast you are, you'll never be able to catch up to the speed of a divine soul's thought."
"If I destroy the Ice Soul Pearl's core, you won't see this item as a precious treasure any longer. Even if you successfully obtain it later, you won't be able to refine it, so it won't serve you much purpose."
Tiernan's eyelids trembled slightly upon hearing Fade's words. It was as if some odd thought had struck his mind.
Fade caught this disregardable movement with his keen eyes. He continued to sway Tiernan, "Perhaps you should hear me out before rejecting my request."
"Spit it out!" Tiernan urged.
Fade thus continued, "My request is simple. I'm willing to go with you. I'll hand over the Ice Soul Pearl to you, but you have to let them leave."
Fade gestured towards Evelyne and Fire
Dragon as he spoke.
"Fade, you..." Evelyne and Fire Dragon shouted at the same instant.
However, Fade gave them a meaningful look and then continued, "The Loh family has put in so much for the Ice Soul Pearl, for this treasure from the relics."
